Selecting artists to AIR: Selected artists based on the votes gathered by that evening and some additional discussion: Sergei Kleyn Izabela Oldak Felicity Ford Nadin Reschke Ana Pecar Masayo Kajimura Shortlisted: Katri Ikävalko-Dennis Tan, SOFAR CHANNEL, Sara Krines-Dagmar Fella, Bilwa Costa, Helen Reed, Ignatz Schik, Yiorgis Sakellariou, Ivan Grebenshikov Some applicants could be invited for giving sound workshop (as part of continuing with sound workshop series in spring 2012) 2. Nordic-Baltic final patch. Due to cancellation of Tara Pattenden new call was announced and distributed mainly in estonia. 3 people applied: Daniel Allen, Tuuli Tubin, Kristjan Allik. Daniel Allen was chosen for Nov.-Dec (upper studio). 3. Plans for next year: - Idea of long term resident: Taavi might be interested for couple of months? - Offering workshops: everybody could offer activities they could offer for MoKS visitors and and/or locals Evelyn’s list already up at homepage: <a href="http://moks.ee/site/pmwiki.php?n=Workshops.Tellimisel" rel="nofollow">http://moks.ee/site/pmwiki.php?n=Workshops.Tellimisel</a> 4. Siiri raised a question of participating in „Jõulud mõisas“ in Dec. 8.-9. For whole month of December we open anyway kind of experimental work and shop space at MoKS basement. Coffee, tinkering and weird stuff for sale. If members want to give a hand or want to sell smth with soul, suggestions are welcome. No place for other Xmas activities really in our house. 5. Decision on: monthly MoKS meetings. Patrick will moderate, assumably every second meeting in Tartu/Mooste. 6. Avamaa 2012 – a week of 13.-19. August under consideration (arriving Sunday 12th). Patrick would still like to invite ….. (the one invited this year but couldn’t come). Is going to be discussed in groups, who send their results to everybody else Pi, Taavi, Maarin… try to meet in Tallinn Mari and Evelyn: the education part (idea: once a week youth creative workshops) Evelyn sends arengkava workversion to Siiri, too. The rest of the topics in the meeting: 1. Brochure – look, content, basic 2. MoKS birthday/ opening events 3 Nordic-Baltic – ask more people (almost set) 4. GROUND 1. Evelyn and /John: more to define what this social practice part means (only in short sentence(es) (and John talking broader about social aim without being social aid org; about social practice and community art teaching in the world). John doesn't want to design, would Sveta do it? (Evelyn will ask) Evelin about the content: brief explanation of the programs, + new info, (multiple studios etc) Shape: 2-3 sides or other. – To be decided according to the budget and designer. John: brochure should consist of information about the history of 10 years also – in 2 sentences. E: there is/was (?) also a thought about separate book of 10 years… 2. MoKS’s birthday (BD) (orig: january 28) vald’s big opening: feb. 4. to do it with them? It has its pluses and minuses. – attention to MoKs will be small (will be shadowed by the other openings at Mooste at the same time) + more people hearing about MoKS; people may not want to come 2 weeks after one another John: We should emphasise these 10 years Mari: big posters everywhere; old photos Patrick: people sitting on stairs from each year; John: documentation videos Evelyn: exhibitions: artworks left; documents of projects and works; creations of members? John: everybody could pick a corner, where they want to present their works Mari would bring smth; Patrick – live performance (short – approx. half an hour) Evelyn is going to ask group – who would take part with more permanent things, who live Piibe’s research (+ Maia (?) and Diana Tamm, Evelyn has Diana’s work, Maia could be found on ETV?) – how to present them? In residency that time: Gintas K. Live program would be on 1 day, exhib. staying longer vald: oficially starts here 1 p.m. John: aim to keep part of the event separate Evelyn will organise sending invitations to ministers, artschool, other places. Work on press releases and invitations along vald. Piibe: the start of the bd-party: clear starting point. not too late in the evening (because how would people get back later) E: 15.00 maybe, or 16 Evelyn: mayor will have a speech at the opening, lets leave the BD starting point open, I’ll speak to mayor, too BD-s food: foodclub: talk to Liilia if she can take part Patrick: some snacks (rather than big dishes) (discussion about foodclub more general – could do more often, Pi: who would be the potential leader, Liilia, but there's one other woman from the interview.) Mari can probably make it by 18, maybe by 17. on the 4th It will be after vald’s program, a part of MoKS BD official party Mari was asked to sing songs that connects somehow to MoKS and was promised to get a swing where to sit while singing :) Probably will be acustic Mari K.: everybody can join in. Evelyn: Taavi, you can allso sing or contribute smth for the ten years BD. Taavi will think about it. Mari: will we have a big cake? – YES! ten layers! John will try to find photos, with others helping (the stairs-pics need to be found) Patrick has some pics, too So MoKS birthday programme would be like that: exhibition of 10 years at MoKS stairs artworks by artists (originals, leftovers, videoworks) works by MoKS members (Mari K and Evelyn confirmed, rest of members will tell) live programme (Mari K, Patrick, sing-along with Mari, foodclub, being together) 3. Nordic-Baltic – was talked about evening earlier, more people will be asked, if they could come on springtime (2 months, period from february till end of april) 4. GROUND John spoke about Skoki in Poland and showed some pictures. GROUND- 2 year project (support from GRUNDTVIG) with Poznan Art academy, Taidekoulu Maa and MoKS. Meeting at Poznan (19.-22.12) attending Tero, John, Evelyn and Marcin (director of Poznan Art Academy). Visiting also their studio space Skoki. All kinds of studioworkshops can be held there.Many people working there in the house, enough space around, can do things outside. In Poland students have to pay for their programs and are therefore really motivated about their undertaken studies. From MoKS side Patrick and Mari J are interested to join workshop in Skoki. Deal: each place hosts 2 events. going to share: teachers Host can have as many people as they want from their side and abroad going approx. 5 students + 2 tutors. Not all the same students will go over 2 years. Evelyn: there’s a deal not to define the content very strictly John: it’ll be different in different places, we want some structure probably, half structured -half opened Evelyn: about the documentation (book, dvd) there’s the plan of making it separate in avery place (instead of making 1 final) Evelyn: we probably won't do Avamaa this year (?) John: GROUND at MoKS will be the week of sept 4.-10. Dates of Skoki are 28. of March – 2. of April (The GRUNDTVIG grant is for an adult education, people out of school, but there are 2 schools involved (?)) So Skoki will be the 1., MoKS the 2. Tartu Art College Sculpture Department students maybe also involved. Evelyn: here could be smth to consider criteria for selecting artists for 2010 AIR period. Eg residency for artists (like it was at Stock7 in Dresden) – organisers and minimum 2 months. M: so lets encourage her to apply! And can we agree now that we accept her. E: we should develop criteria for residency along with this. Rentable studio would be for all kind of artists. But rent-free grant studio for artists-organisers. So it also fosters interaction and encourages artists who are not organisers yet to start / get idea for their own project. So criteria for 2010: residency for artists organisers minimum 2 months + already what we have M: artist/ organiser as a Mutant species. For them there is not much possibilities. John: We have enough applicants, so we can specify criteria and we still have people to choose from. M: so we could tell her that we accept her (Elisabet Underwood) Everybody seems to agree J: House will be under renovation in 2009-2010 so we do not know how will we work. Mari ja Taavi arrive Introducing each other John explains why we decided to invite Mari- Taavi to organisation. Its strategic decision. To use their expert knowledege and experience. As an interface wth village. M: this is smth we should discuss omong ourselves how can we contribute to this (relations with village) Toomas remembers thing he wished to do: research like at Nodar. Perhaps to do this before / during Avamaa Talk about planned Rahvapillide kool. MoKS to relate with other projects at Mooste, right now there is not much connection. Mari: exp+ folk would be the key. There is quite some folk music schools but no school where experimental music mixes with folk. Taavi explains why he accepts invition: to try out. Mari: MoKS was an inspiration for me Mari has her own NGO, so does Taavi- to cooperate with these organisations.
