Art Symposium - Kunstisümpoosion |
shejingrenyannick dauby & wan-shuen tsai Shejingren is the name of the collaboration project between Yannick Dauby (sound recordist, experimental music composer and improviser, and researcher in the field of soundscape) and Wan-Shuen Tsai (visual and media artist and poet, focusing on inhabitated landscape). After two periods of work in Taiwan (Taipei Artist Village, 2004 and Wistaria House, 2005) and a series of audio-video events in Europe, they would like to develop a series of site-related works in the area of Mooste, Estonia. Together, they would create a cinematic work melting the documentary aspect of the aural and visual recording technologies with the poetic of montage and of musique concrète and fragments of writing. Some small films would be assembled in a flow of rough narration, describing subjectives situations in several distinct languages (Mandarin, French, English and Estonian). Each of these sequences would be independent, and render the idea of impossible locations and immaterial borders. Some would be based on microscopic landscapes, other ones would be focused on traces of human activities and animal presence. At the hedge of experimental cinema and fiction, this work would be definitely linked to a poetic vision of Estonian rural landscapes.
