Hanna Ilczyszyn is a young Polish painter living in Belgium. She was an MFA student at KASK in Gent, Be, and previously studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, Pl. She has been exhibiting her work at solo and group shows in Taiwan, Japan, China, Austria, Belgium, Poland, Bulgaria, Spain, Holland and has been selling her work to collectors around the world.
She is one of the One to Watch artist by Saatchi Art, which promotes creators that are already gathering attention for their work. Her evocative paintings and drawings capture the innocence and uncertainties of childhood and are floating between past and present.

Over-painted portraits
I will work on a project that will be an experiment for me. Mooste with its small community feels very welcoming, with only 500 inhabitants and a big Art Center (MoKS) in comparison to the local population. It's important for me to encourage the local community to join my project and cooperate with me through art. During my stay at MoKS I will create over-painted portraits, described below, together with people from the local community in Mooste.
First, I will meet local people interested in participating in the project and I will take a picture of them. I will then paint their portraits and allow those portrayed to finish/change/over-paint my work in whichever way they like. In this way we will create a series of over-painted portraits developed by all participants. The artistic purpose is to mix the perspective of the creator and the viewer. My plan is to involve both men and women of all ages. A public exhibition of all the works (hosted by MoKS) will complete the project.
