Born in Moscow and based in Munich and Berlin, Natalia Borissova is an independent cross-disciplinary artist-maker, researcher, organiser and lately amateur mycophile and poly-gardener. She studied Book Design at the Moscow State University of Printing Arts and Design, and did her postgraduate in Conceptual Art as well as in Video Art and Electronic Sound at the Theremin Centre in Moscow. Since 1995, she has been transitioning from painting, book/web design, photography, installation, video-art documentary and VJ-ing to acoustic and DIY electronic sound making. Since 2006 she has been working with sound and related electronics, connecting organic systems and technology; electromagnetic films and acoustic, doing performances, giving experiment-based workshops inspired by informal education and independently organizing (un)events. Beginning in 2011, she has become in a sense “down to earth” and has become somewhat tangential to the “natural media”: non-green and green gardening and the fermentation processes of food-time-life.
