Silja Truus is from Estonia and graduated in London in 2011. She has shown her sculptures and installations at a number of exhibitions since 2009, mostly in the UK. Last year, she moved back to Estonia. Silja’s work is concerned with the covert and deeply emotional responses to the most fundamental aspects of the human condition. The form is often inspired by traditional art, resulting in a certain raw and spontaneous quality. Besides the more traditional materials, Silja has also used found objects and recycled materials –based on the principle that the characteristics of the materials will be carried into and become an inherent part in the final piece.
