Hanna Ilczyszyn is a young Polish painter living in Belgium. She is one of the One to Watch artist by Saatchi Art, which promotes creators that are already gathering attention for their work. Her evocative paintings and drawings capture the innocence and uncertainties of childhood and are floating between past and present.
During her stay at MoKS she created over-painted portraits, described below, together with people from the local community in Mooste.
First she met local people interested in participating in the project and took pictures of them. Then she painted their portraits and allowed those portrayed to finish/change/over-paint her work in whichever way they liked. In this way a series of over-painted portraits developed by all participants was created. The artistic purpose of the project was to mix the perspective of the creator and the viewer.
