Paimentyttö – Vallpiga – Shepherdess
Performance at Genialistide Klubi ( Lai 37, Tartu), Tuesday, June 17th at 7pm
Vallpiga is an experimental, continually changing performance of two finnish sisters Anna and Emma Fält.
The 50 minutes act combines Nordic archaic singing tradition and live drawing and it is based on the Swedish shepherd tradition, songs that were sang at the forests, often by young shepherd girls (in Swedish “vallpiga”). Main themes are loneliness, contact and human voice. The most important is though the contact between the singer Anna Fälts voice and artist Emma Fälts drawing that she improvises on the stage.
After the opening night in 2011 has Vallpiga have had tours both in Finland and Sweden for example in festivals, concert houses and museums.
“Something totally unheard and unseen.”
