Woman Skin Song Bone
Žena, kůže, píseň, kost (a dost?)
An international company formed by dramaturge Kateřina Fojtíková currently working on a performance that will premiere in September in Prague. Six women have been creating, exploring, improvising and singing inMoKS in Mooste from the beginning of July.
They are working on visual performance about fragments of femininity, combining puppets, textile art, video and old singing traditions: tracing the images before words, voices before songs, movements before dance and touch before meeting.
Unearthing and burying the stories in the field where our ancestress planted messages amongst the potatoes, for those who would come after. Death accompanies us with our every step, but still our lives dig the furrows in the earth, into souls and to memories. With what do we nurture the web connecting us all to the cycle of life and death? Does this web support us or tie us down? Our ancestresses, dried up by the endless work in the field, are stretching out over the web. Maybe they are still here to carry us beyond dream and memory.
The performance's language is based around visuality, on images lured out by sound. Song creates and moves stage images, primitive puppets weave the eternal field of ancestors and modern technologies bring other layers of time to the surface. The group of women of various artistic and cultural background (Finnish, Swedish-Finnish and Australian, Polish, Slovak and Czech) are forming the performance's shape and subject out of improvisations and shared personal memories, dreams and songs.
